March 18, 2014

BROOKLYN, N.Y. March 19, 2014 The Department of Health Care Administration at St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that it will welcome CEO and President of Maimonides Medical Center Ms. Pamela Brier to its Brooklyn Campus on Wednesday, April 2. Her discussion, "Leading Change in the Era of Health Reform, will address the new paradigm in which healthcare organizations must operate, the challenges that have emerged and the approaches that successful healthcare organizations are taking in order to provide class-leading care while remaining fiscally stable.

An employee of Maimonides Medical Center since 1995, Ms. Brier served as the executive vice president and chief operating officer for eight years before becoming president and CEO. She has been in her current position as the leader of this 711-bed major teaching hospital since 2003. During this time, she has worked tirelessly to position the hospital as a major tertiary care center, while at the same time, remaining true to its community roots. She also expanded clinical services, including a new full service cancer center and a $116 million new nine-story inpatient pavilion. Under her leadership, the Medical Center has gained a widespread reputation for medical excellence, compassionate patient care and innovation.

One of the fastest-growing majors at the College, the Department of Health Care Administration views it as integral to its mission that faculty and students contribute to ongoing dialogue in the healthcare community, by providing both a forum for the expression of ideas and allowing them to contribute their respective knowledge and experience to the conversation. From this, SJC seeks to serve as an invaluable asset to healthcare providers in the New York metropolitan area.

This event, which is free and open to members of the healthcare community, will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Tuohy Hall Auditorium located on SJCs Brooklyn Campus at 245 Clinton Avenue, Brooklyn (between DeKalb and Willoughby Avenues).
