The Five Pillars — Social Responsibility

The faculty, staff and administration strive to nurture St. Joseph's students desire to engage as citizens and act for the greater good.

St. Joseph's University offers many academic programs and student groups that provide opportunities for students to work toward justice – locally and globally. Our students show social responsibility in the classroom, where they learn how to make a positive impact on the world through their future careers. Moral righteousness is also taught through service clubs and alternative spring break trips. 

Get Involved

• Go Green Gen Up club strives to make the University and world “greener” — physically and spiritually.
• Sponsorship of community nonprofits, including the annual school supply giveaway, provides children from families served by the YWCA Brooklyn with new backpacks filled with donated school supplies.
• Alternative spring breaks allow students to assist communities affected by natural disasters and help rebuild homes.
• The annual Thanksgiving Food Drive collects nonperishable items, benefitting Grandma’s Love, Inc., a Brooklyn-based nonprofit that provides food to elementary school children and their families who might otherwise go hungry.
• Attend conferences to further research on causes you believe in.
