America Reads

America Reads

America Reads is an internship program available to our Brooklyn campus students.

It is designed to help young children learn to read independently and improve literacy in the early grades. Since 1997, interns have participated in the America Reads Program Federal Initiative. In collaboration with NYC Administration for Children’s Services, the Queens Public Library and select NYC Department of Education schools, the Public Service Corps has developed America Reads internships at over 100 sites. Tutoring takes place throughout the five boroughs of New York City including libraries, schools, day care centers and afterschool programs.
