SJC to Host Book Signing by Famed Children’s Book Author

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. MARCH 8, 2013 The Council for the Arts at St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to host a reception and book signing by famed childrens book author and illustrator, Tomek Bogacki, on Wednesday, March 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Board Room of OConnor Hall located on its Long Island Campus.

Mr. Bogacki has written and illustrated more than 40 childrens books including, the Cat and Mouse series, Circus Girl and My First Garden.  Mr. Bogacki was born in a small town in Poland and as a teenager, moved to the countrys capital of Warsaw, the setting for his passionate picture book about the Holocaust-era entitled, The Champion of Children: The Story of Janusz Korczak. In 2009, The Champion of Children was a National Jewish Book Award finalist in the category of Illustrated Children's Books.

The Council for the Arts at SJC fosters and encourages an appreciation and enrichment of the fine and performing arts by experiencing the power and beauty of dance, theater, music and visual arts. The Council develops an enduring love of the arts and encourages active involvement from SJC students and the surrounding community, either as participants or as informed spectators, with the hope that it will enrich and ultimately transform their lives.
