SJC to Host Dr. Massimo Faggioli for Religious Studies Lectures

PATCHOGUE, N.Y. – March 6, 2020 – St. Joseph’s College (SJC) is pleased to welcome Massimo Faggioli, Ph.D., professor of theology and religious studies at Villanova University, for two lectures on Thursday, April 16 and Friday, April 17. 

The lectures, sponsored by SJC’s Institute for the Study of Religion in Community Life, are as follows:

  • Thursday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m.: Political Cultures of the Church
  • Friday, April 17 at 9:30 a.m.: The Liminal Papacy of Pope Francis

Dr. Faggioli is a professor of theology and religious studies at Villanova University, and contributing writer to Commonweal Magazine. He received a Ph.D. in Religious History from the University of Turin and has carried out scientific research at the Foundation for Religious Sciences Giovanni XXIII in Bologna, Italy. His writings have appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Chicago Sun-Times and Tribune, National Catholic Reporter, The Washington Post, and religious and mainstream newspapers in Italy, France, Germany, Great Britain, Canada and Brazil.
