PATCHOGUE, N.Y. JULY 1, 2014 St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that 59 of its student-athletes have been named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll for the 2013-14 winter and spring sports, the most among all Skyline institutions.

"Everyone at St. Josephs is proud of the 59 student-athletes named to the Skyline Conference Academic Honor Roll, said Shantey Hill, director of athletics on SJCs Long Island Campus. "Balancing athletics and academics can be challenging, however, and our student-athletes continuously prove that it can be done. We are both proud and excited that these students are being recognized for their academic achievements and will always work to ensure that we supply them with the necessary resources for continued classroom success.

There are 389 members of the Academic Honor Roll for the winter and spring of 2013-14 from the 10 full member institutions and five affiliate institutions. The Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes in the conference with a 3.3 GPA or better while competing in men's and women's sports.

In addition, two SJC student-athletes, Brandon Abbatiello and Julianne Tierney, have been named the 2013-14 Skyline Conference Scholar-Athletes of the Year in their respective winter/spring sports. A Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award is presented to the first-team All-Conference performer who carries the highest GPA for the spring semester in the sports of baseball, softball, lacrosse, men's volleyball and men's tennis. The highest cumulative GPA for both the fall and spring semesters of 2013-14 is used for the first-team All-Conference recipients in basketball and swimming.
