The Long Island Campus Welcomes New Academic Dean

PATCHOGUE, NY JANUARY 23, 2012 The Long Island Campus of St. Josephs College (SJC) is pleased to announce that Dr. Christopher Frost has been appointed the new academic dean of the School of Arts and Sciences effective mid-January 2012.

Dr. Frost is the former associate dean of undergraduate studies and professor of psychology and religion at San Diego State University (SDSU). He brings more than 25 years of experience and a wealth of knowledge to his new role as dean at SJC. In describing his move to St. Josephs, Dr. Frost said, "I was at the point in my career where I wished to join a community that matched my own highest priorities and values. St. Josephs College, with its distinctive mission and student-centeredness, was clearly that community.

Prior to his work at SDSU, Dr. Frost was a professor of psychology and director of the honors program at Texas State University. In addition, he served as a visiting professor at Midway Womens College in Kentucky and Al Akhawayn University in Morocco, and as a Fulbright senior research scholar at the University of Bucharest in Romania. From 1982-1986, he served as President and CEO of Peachtree Ventures, Inc. in Austin, Texas.

Dr. Frost has published extensively on a variety of topics, including but not limited to psychology, religion, philosophy, social science, cross-cultural studies and politics. He has received numerous honors and accolades throughout his academic tenure and holds many professional memberships. Dr. Frost began his studies in the U.S. Naval Academy before earning his B.A. in psychology of religion from Baylor University, his M.A. in psychology of religion from Boston University and his Ph.D. in psychology and interdisciplinary studies from Boston University.
