Accounting Society

The Accounting Society is a great way for any accounting student to get involved on campus as well as network with other individuals in the accounting program. It is run by enthusiastic accounting majors and meets several times throughout each semester.

Over the course of the academic year, the accounting society brings in CPA Review Course representatives who talk about the structure and any changes to the CPA Exam. In addition to this, the accounting society also holds résumé writing and interviewing skills workshops, to which attendance is mandatory if an accounting internship is desired.

Throughout the year there are also guest speakers with vast expertise in all fields of accounting that share their experiences with our members.

Our members also have the opportunity to get involved in fundraisers of which the proceeds go towards the Big Brothers Big Sisters charity.

In the Spring Semester, members are encouraged to participate in the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Through this program, members prepare and file income tax returns for the elderly and low-income families at no charge. All training is provided to students for this program.

Overall, the mission of the Accounting society is to provide students with opportunities to support and develop the skills required to succeed in the SJC Program and to enter the real world of business and/or accounting.
