First Year Student Registration

First Year Student Registration

Congratulations on your admission to St. Joseph’s University, New York.

Registration Information

Typically the registration process for new First-year students begins in the spring for the upcoming fall semester. During the registration period, students who had officially accepted their offer of admission to SJNY and had submitted their tuition deposit will receive an invitation and instructions to arrange for a registration appointment with an academic advisor.

First-year students can prepare ahead of time for their registration appointment by:

  • Reviewing the course-offerings for the First-year seminar course (SJNY 100) and choosing a few that are of interest.
  • Compiling and having on hand a list of the AP, IB, CLEP or other courses for which they have earned college credit during high school.
  • Gathering information about other obligations. For example, if the student is planning on playing a sport at SJNY, the student should contact their coach prior to their registration appointment to find out when they will be expected to attend practices with their team.

During the registration appointment first-year students will meet one-on-one with an advisor to discuss their educational goals to select and enroll in courses for their first semester at SJNY.

After enrolling, students will receive instructions for:

  • Obtaining an SJNY student ID.
  • Reserving an SJNY campus parking permit.
  • Accessing the SJNY Student Portal and Gmail account.
  • Submitting required medical records.

The Office of Admissions will be able to direct you to the appropriate campus office if you have any questions regarding the registration process. Contact the Office of Admissions by calling 631.687.4500 or by emailing [email protected].
